I’ll Give You the Sun
UncategorizedStory time
UncategorizedAll of us, well most of us, got read to as children. Fairy tales and children’s books are often mystical and cause for wonderment. I revisited some childhood stories recently and even looked up original stories for a few and thought it might be interesting to warp the narrative a little. This is a poem I wrote with the story Little Red Riding Hood in mind.
Innocence
Veiled eyes like
Darts pierce red hoods
Through dark forests
Tongues lick blood covered lips
Stalk the prey
They watch with hunger
They watch
Hungry
They watch for little girls
Too young to know
The fear that they should
Innocence drips
Off young shoulders
Into hands of a creature
Girls fall into deception
The predator and the prey
The Outsiders
UncategorizedWelcome to Chicanery
UncategorizedOver the next couple months this blog will focus primarily on young adult literature. Many people discredit YA lit and can’t understand the impact that it can make on young people. I would like to try and creatively review young adult books in a way that can connect readers of this blog with the central theme of the books. These blog posts will hopefully come twice per week and ask you to think about your life as a young adult.
